Men's Soccer Blanked By Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, PA. (October 26, 2019) – The FDU Florham men's soccer team fell to Eastern University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play by a score of 5-0.

The Devils fall to 6-8-2 on the season, and 1-4-1 in MAC Freedom play. Eastern improves to 9-8-1 and 5-1 in the MAC Freedom. 

In the fourth minute of the game, sophomore Salvatore Vassallo recorded the first shot on goal of the game, as his attempt was corralled in by the Eastern goalie. In the fifth minute, the Eagles broke through the Devils defensive unit for the shot attempt but were denied by sophomore goalie Tiernan Grey, who came up with the save. In the 37th minute, it was Grey again, as the sophomore stopped the Eagles attempt to score. Eastern continued to attack, as they scored in the 41st and 44th minute, to take the 2-0 lead.

In the 58th minute, the Devils looked to get on the board, as sophomore Diego Stanziola came away with the shot on goal attempt, which was saved by the Eagles goalie. In the 65th minute, Grey rejected the Eagles attempt to add to their lead. Grey came up with another save in the 71st minute when the Eagles attempted to score. Eastern scored three more times to take the 5-0 lead. In the 88th minute, freshman Riley Powers had his shot saved by the Eagles. The final buzzer sounded shortly after that as the Eagles secured the victory.
