MADISON, N.J. (October 26, 2019) - The FDU-Florham field hockey team defeated King's College 4-0 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.

Before the game, the Devils honored their five seniors; Jessica Pietracatella, Marie Pietracatella, Maggie Sohns, Ariana Wexler, and Angie You. With the win, the Devils move to 15-2 overall and remain undefeated in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play, with a record of 6-0. The Monarchs fall to 6-11 overall and 2-4 in conference games. FDU notched their 11th straight victory and clinched the No. 1 seed in the MAC Freedom Championship Tournament in two weeks.

The first period was a back-and-forth defensive battle between the two teams. The FDU defensive unit held the Monarchs without a shot, while the Devils registered a single shot attempt. In the second period, the Monarchs recorded their first shot attempt of the game, which was blocked. The Devils were awarded a penalty stroke in the 25th minute, but the Monarch goalkeeper smothered the shot. Just one minute later, the hosts were given another stroke. This time, Marie Pietracatella converted, sending FDU into the half with a 1-0 advantage.

In the third period, the Devils tallied a pair of shot on goal attempts. In the 33rd minute, sophomore Haleigh Flukey had her shot attempt saved by the King's goalie. In the 37th minute, junior Marissa Colvin fired away a shot attempt that the Monarchs goalie was able to recover for the save.

Following a penalty corner, sophomore Sydney Moskal found freshman Lauren Nawrotzki for the score. Now leading 2-0, the Devils did not take long to tack on more points. In the 44th minute, Flukey executed off of another assist from Moskal, for the score. FDU nearly added to their lead with 14 seconds left, but Marie Pietracatella's shot was stopped.

In the fourth period, the Devils closed out the scoring. Sohns connected with sophomore Kendall Moore, who deflected a pass into the back of the cage. Junior goalie Megan March made three saves in the quarter to deny the Monarchs from scoring.
