MADISON, N.J. (October 19, 2019) – The FDU Florham football team fell to Misericordia in Saturday's Homecoming matchup by a score of 40-17.
The Devils move to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. The Cougars improve their record to 4-1 and 4-0 in the MAC.
On their first possession of the day, Devils junior quarterback Anthony Caserta connected for two long passes. First, Caserta found sophomore Connor Perez for a 15-yard gain. On the ensuing play, Caserta passed to senior Damarquis Price for an 18-yard gain. The Cougars were able to keep the Devils off of the scoreboard for the duration of the drive.
A few drives later, Caserta fired off a completion to Jevaughn Thomas II for a 30-yard gain. The Devils marched down into Cougars territory, and then the Caserta-Perez connection paid dividends once again, as Perez completed a 15-yard gain. With 2:01 left in the first, Misericordia got on the board, but the extra-point hit off the upright. The quarter concluded, with the Cougars on top, 6-0.
The Devils accumulated 88-yards in the opening drive of the second half. During the drive, Perez halted in a pass from Caserta for a 27-yard gain. A few plays later, Price caught the throw from Caserta, for a 29-yard burst through the Cougars defense. FDU was unable to score, as the Cougars would reel off the next 34 points spanning the next two and a half quarters.
In the fourth quarter, FDU captured its first points of the game. Caserta started what would be a 48-yard touchdown drive, with a 12-yard completion to freshman Mark Kepler. Two players later, the Caserta pass to Perez resulted in a 36-yard touchdown. On the two-point extra point attempt, senior Robert Blakely threw a pass to senior Mike Sullivan, for the conversion.
Later in the quarter, the Devils scored once more. Caserta first found junior Tyler Adams for a 14-yard reception. It was then junior Rory Sullivan, who connected on back-to-back plays. First, Rory Sullivan brought in the pass from Caserta for a 10-yard gain. The junior then took the pass from Caserta, for a 12-yard gain. Caserta then found Kepler for another 12-yard completion to move the Devils deep into Cougars territory. Caserta capped off the drive with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Price. The score would be the Devils final of the game, as the Cougars held on for the win.

- Caserta totaled 366 yards and has eclipsed the 300 total passing yards five times this season.
- Perez had 114 receiving yards and has had 100 plus yards in back-to-back games.
- Seniors Mihajlo Simakoski and Dane Lupton led the Devils with nine tackles apiece.
