Volleyball Sweeps Past Old Westbury

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (October 17, 2019) - The FDU Florham volleyball teamtraveled to face Old Westbury on Thursday and came away victorious with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-10 sweep.

The Devils move to 7-12 on the season, as the Panthers fall to 6-8.

In the first set, FDU gained momentum following a streak of three straight points with sophomore Kacie Ros serving. The Devils used the run to jump to a 13-9 lead. Following a pair of back-and-forth rallies, FDU sat in the drivers' seat up 18-13. On the ensuing play, senior Nathalia Padron tallied a kill to extend the FDU lead. The Panthers would see more of Padron, as she recorded two more kills in the set, to help secure the Devils set victory, 25-17.

Junior Liz Moise opened the second set with a kill off of an assist from Ros. The Devils would then go on to score four unanswered points to take the 5-0 lead. Later in the set, now leading 12-9, a kill from junior Jessica Garreffa kickstarted a streak of five consecutive kills from Devils' players. Ros connected to Garreffa for the first kill of the streak, followed by Garreffa again, this time off an assist from junior Rebecca Morse. Padron recorded the next three kills, all off assists from Ros. The Devils did not look back from that point on, as they won the set by a score of 25-15.

The Devils used another 5-0 set opening rally to propel themselves to victory with Moise adding two kills during the run. Up 17-10 and sensing victory, the Devils went on an 8-0 tear to lock up the win. Freshman Sophia Miskulin began the spurt with a kill. Following the kill from Miskulin, Padron garnered four kills en route to the Devils 25-10 third set victory.
