Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Bested by Stevens, 3-0

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 16, 2019) - The FDU men's soccer team was topped by Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom foe Stevens 3-0 Wednesday.

FDU goes to 5-6-2 on the campaign, and 0-2-1 in MAC-Freedom games. The Ducks jumped to 8-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference games.

Junior Brandon McGregor recorded the first shot attempt of the contest, as he fired off a shot in the 10th minute that was blocked by the Ducks defense. In the 18th minute of the match, the Ducks busted through the Devils defense for their first shot attempt of the game; however, they would be denied, as sophomore Tiernan Grey came up with the stop. Grey continued his stellar performance in goal for the Devils, as he made three consecutive saves in the 19th minute. 

In the 23rd minute, it was Grey once again, as he prevented the Ducks attempt to score. In the 35th minute, the Ducks got on the board as they took the 1-0 lead. In the 41st minute, FDU recorded their first shot-on-goal attempt of the game, when junior Ricky La Stella had his effort saved by the Ducks goalie. In the 44th minute, McGregor once again surged past the Devils defense, but the Stevens defensive unit blocked his attempt.

In the second half, Stevens scored goals in the 53rd and 55th minutes to extend their lead to 3-0. La Stella's attempt was blocked in the 63rd minute while McGregor has his stopped in the 65th minute. In the 75th minute, Grey denied the Ducks attempt to extend their lead. In the 78th and 83rd minutes, the Devils defensive squad tallied blocks on the Ducks shots. In the 84th minute, Grey secured his final save of the evening, as he brought in the Ducks attempt.

  • Grey set a new single-game career-high in saves with nine and is second among MAC Freedom goalies in saves this season.
  • The FDU defense blocked six of the Ducks' shot attempts.
