DALLAS, Pa. (January 26, 2019) - The FDU-Florham women's basketball team suffered a 72-39 setback against Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom foe Misericordia Saturday afternoon.
The Devils drop to 7-12 overall and 2-6 within the conference, as Misericordia improves to 17-1, 6-1 in the MAC Freedom.
The hosts opened with the first four points before the Devils answered back with six consecutive tallies. Senior
Raven Dowling notched four points during the run. After the Cougars evened the score, sophomore
Jennah Roman swiped the ball and fed Dowling, who nailed a triple to put the Devils back in 9-6. That kick-started a 6-3 Devils spurt, finished off with a layup from freshman
Helen Ishmael. Misericordia ended the first period on a 10-0 run to pull ahead by eight before Ishmael began the second with a layup.
The Devils defense limited Misericordia to just three field goals over a seven-minute stretch in the second quarter, but the team was only able to score eight points of their own. Dowling scored four straight points in 23 seconds, the second on a fast break courtesy of an Ishmael rejection.
Dowling had 13 points while playing all 20 first-half minutes, while Roman tallied four thefts in 18 minutes of action.
The Cougars bridged the second and third periods with a 9-0 run before Roman knocked down a three-pointer with 6:20 remaining in the third stanza.
