WILLIAMSPORT, PA. (September 28, 2018) - The FDU-Florham women's tennis team breezed to a 9-0 victory over Lycoming Friday afternoon.
The win moves FDU to 2-0 on the season, as Lycoming falls to 1-2.
The sophomore duo of
Nicole DelRosso and
Kira Bradley set the tone with an 8-1 victory at the top of the doubles lineup. At No. 2 doubles, junior
Christine Kenny and sophomore
Brooke Dorsey rolled to an easy 8-0 shutout win, while junior
Meghann Hargis and senior
Allyson Wolf picked up a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles.
Junior
Erin Weller registered a win at No. 6 singles via forfeit, while DelRosso had little trouble en route to a 6-4, 6-2 win at No.1. Kenny won at No. 2 singles but had a tough match. She dropped the first set 7-6 (7-4) before leveling things at one with a 7-5 triumph. Kenny won the match with a grueling 10-8 win in the final frame.
Junior
Mia Capozzoli cruised to an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 while Bradley earned an 8-1 pro-set win at No. 4 singles. Much like Kenny, Wolf had to go to three sets in her match at No. 3 singles. The senior fell in the first set but rebounded with a 6-3 win in the second. Wolf had little issue closing out the match, winning the third set 6-0.
FDU is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to take on Lehman College at 3:30 p.m.
