WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (September 28, 2018) - The FDU-Florham men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over Lycoming in the season opener Friday afternoon.

The Devils No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Rich Bennett and junior Kevin Weller had a tough back and forth match, ending with a 9-7 triumph. Freshmen JT Murray and Michael LaNeve earned their first collegiate victories with an 8-0 blanking over Nick Meek and Sam Lamport at No. 2 doubles. Freshman John Bricker and junior Brendon Urbano earned a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles.

Weller and LaNeve notched forfeit victories in singles play, picking up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively. Bricker made it 2-for-2 on the day with a 6-0, 6-0 straight-set win at No. 3 singles, while Urbano fought for a tough victory at No. 4 singles. After dropping the first set 6-1, the junior battled back to win 7-5, 6-3. Bennett also recorded a second win on the day, winning 6-4, 6-2 at the top of the lineup.

FDU returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to take on Moravian at 4 p.m.
