GALLOWAY, N.J. (September 21, 2018) – The FDU-Florham volleyball team was topped by host Stockton and Catholic during Day One of the Osprey Invitational.
The Devils drop to 4-11 on the season, and will close out the Osprey Invitational with games against Cabrini and Moravian beginning at 1 p.m.

Kacie Ros brought the Devils to within one at 9-8 in the opening frame, but a 6-2 Osprey spurt extended the lead to five. The Osprey used a game-swinging 4-1 run to bring up set point. A Harris kill and an unforced hitting error prolonged the set, but a Stockton double-block ended set one 25-19.
Stockton opened set two with eight of the first nine points, forcing the Devils into a timeout. The breather helped the team get back into the set. Junior
Nathalia Padron slammed down a kill and followed up with an ace, while Harris put away a kill to trim the deficit to 11-9. The Devils raced all the way back to pull level at 16 thanks to back-to-back kill from Padron and senior
Marissa Lehnert, but Stockton ended the stanza on a 9-2 run. Included in the rally was six consecutive markers to close out the set.
FDU led 3-2 after an unforced service error, but a 9-1 run by Stockton put the set out of reach. Senior
Katie Quinlan tallied a kill midway through the frame to get as close as 14-9, but they would not be able to get any closer.
Harris had five kills and 16 digs, while Lehnert had six kills and two blocks (one solo).

Katie Quinlan combined for 27 kills and just errors, but the Devils fell in straight sets to the Cardinals. Defensively, Harris tallied 20 digs, one behind Padron for the team lead. Lehnert had two solo blocks in the setback.
The difference was the second set, as the Devils hit just .049 while Catholic slugged at .289 clip. The third set was better, as the Devils committed just four attack errors en route to a .246 hitting percentage.
