Field Hockey Collects Second Straight Shutout

MADISON, N.J. (September 12, 2018) - The FDU-Florham field hockey team shutout Ramapo College 3-0, Wednesday night to improve to 4-1 in the season.

The Devils defense posted their second consecutive home shutout of the season, allowing just two shots. Junior Jessica Pietracatella and senior Cassidy Santorelli, and sophomore Allison Attardi each found the back of the cage to fuel the Devil's offense for the night. The Devils held a 14-2 shot advantage and a 12-4 edge in corners.

Jessica Pietracatella netted her first goal of the season seven minutes into the contest. The Devils defense continued to play great at home, holding the Roadrunners to zero first half shots and zero penalty corners. FDU-Florham went into half with six corners but only three shots, with one being on goal.

The Devils had an opportunity to increase the lead with 23 minutes left in regulation when freshman Brianna Suralik redirected a shot from Pietracatella that sailed wide on the box. The Devils offense continued to apply pressure when freshman Haleigh Flukey's shot got passed the keeper but was saved by Ramapo's Victoria Ewanis. Santorelli netted her second goal of the year when she rebounded the ball off a shot by senior Makayla Pak.

With just under four minutes remaining Attardi received a pass from junior Maggie Sohns to find the back of the cage for her first collegiate goal. The assist was Sohns' third of the season. Ewanis tallied a pair of defensive saves for the Roadrunners, who fell to 1-4 on the year.

Senior goalkeeper Samantha Rubin recorded the win without facing a single shot on target, as sophomore Megan March relieved Rubin of her duties with six minutes remaining and recorded a save.

The Devils will begin a three-game road trip starting with, New England College on Saturday September 15 at 12 p.m.
