WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (April 5, 2018) - The FDU men's tennis team fell to King's College 6-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom contest Thursday.
The Devils fall to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in conference, while King's evened up at 5-5 overall.
"Never happy losing a match but I can't complain with the effort the guys put forth today," said Head Coach Tom Bataglia. "Nobody complained about the weather. They all fought hard. The plan was to stay aggressive but we just got nervous during critical points. We let them dictate the pace of play as well. These are all things we can work on in practice and we will be ready for our next Mach on Tuesday."
No. 1 and No. 3 doubles fell by identical 8-2 margins, but were sandwiched between a Devils win by the No. 2 pairing. The duo of senior
Chris Ly and sophomore
Chris Fiorenza picked up an 8-5 triumph, helping the team avoid a doubles sweep.
Senior
Max Moscowitz claimed the first set at No. 1 singles before dropping the next two 6-3, 6-1. Ly earned his second victory of the day, coming back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-1 and 7-5 at No. 3 singles.
Fiorenza was the other double win on the day, winning 7-5, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. The Devils were unable to claim any additional wins, falling 6-3.
FDU is back in action April 10, traveling the short distance to take on the College of St. Elizabeth at 1 p.m.
