EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. (April 28, 2018) - The FDU men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback against Wilkes University Saturday.
The Devils dropped to 15-4 overall, and 4-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. FDU will be the No. 3 seed in the MAC Freedom Championship, and will travel to No. 2 King's on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
FDU found themselves in a hole early on, dropping all three doubles matches. Senior
Chris Ly and sophomore
Chris Fiorenza came the closest to pulling an upset but eventually fell 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Elsewhere, the No. 1 doubles team of senior
Max Moscowitz and sophomore
Kevin Weller dropped an 8-2 decision.
In singles action, Fiorenza found himself in a battle at No. 6 singles. After dropping the first stanza 7-6(7-2), the sophomore claimed the second frame 6-3. Fiorenza eventually fell 10-4 in the third and final set.
Ly was knocked off 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while Moscowitz fell 6-1, 6-2 at the top. Freshman
Tyler Schacher had a competitive first frame, falling 6-3 before dropping the second 6-0.
