MADISON, N.J. (April 21, 2018) - The FDU men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Misericordia Saturday afternoon.
The Devils are now 11-2 overall and 3-1 within the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. FDU is back in action tomorrow, hosting Rutgers-Newark before traveling to Staten Island at 3 p.m. The unit has won each of their last four matches by identical 9-0 scorelines.
With No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles not having any competitors, FDU was off to an early 2-0 lead. Senior
Max Moscowitz and sophomore
Kevin Weller handily won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while seniors
Steven Serras and
Chris Ly pitched the shutout 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Serras was untouched at No. 4 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 while Moscowitz and Weller each won 6-1, 6-0. Ly battled to a straight set 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles before freshman
Tyler Schacher earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles.
With his two victories, Weller joined Serras as crossing the 50 career win mark. In his two seasons at FDU, Weller has notched 51 career victories to date, playing primarily at No. 2 singles this season and was a Second Team All-MAC Freedom selection last year.
