Moscowitz Notches 100th Career Victory As Men's Tennis Wins Two

ST. DAVIDS and MEDIA, Pa. (April 14, 2018) - A day after classmate Chris Ly hit 100 career wins, senior Max Moscowitz recorded his 100th as the FDU men's tennis team cruised past Eastern and Penn State Brandywine.

The Devils improve to 10-2 on the season, including 2-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. Both matches today ended 9-0 in favor of the Devils.

Moscowitz joined Ly as the only two players in program history to reach the 100 win plateau. Senior Steven Serras reached a milestone last week, hitting 50 career victories.

"Max embodies what every coach should have in their captain," said head coach Tom Battaglia. "He's a leader both on and off the court. He's the kind of person that would give you the shirt off his back or lend you a racket when you break a string. We couldn't be more proud of him. It's a great day in program history having Max and Chri get their 100th wins on back-to-back days."

Against Eastern, Moscowitz, Serras and freshman Tyler Schacher each picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories. Sophomore Kevin Weller had toughest test at No. 2 singles, as the he fought hard to win 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Ly earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles while sophomore Chris Fiorenza registered a 6-1, 6-0 win to complete the shutout at singles.

Moscowitz teamed with Weller for an 8-3 triumph at No. 1 doubles, before No. 2 and No. 3 doubles earned identical 8-2 wins. Serras and sophomore Brendon Urbano notched final doubles victory, with Urbano improving to 2-0 on the season.

In the match against Penn State Brandywine, Moscowitz and Weller once again topped their opponents 8-3. With a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles, Ly and Fiorenza picked up an easy 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

In singles action, Weller, Ly and Serras all pitched 8-0 shutouts, while Schacher picked up an 8-1 win. Moscowitz closed out his four win day with an 8-0 victory at No. 1 singles.

FDU is back in action tomorrow, hosting Pratt at 10 a.m.
