Chris Ly hit 100 career wins, senior
Max Moscowitz recorded his 100th as the FDU men's tennis team cruised past Eastern and Penn State Brandywine.
The Devils improve to 10-2 on the season, including 2-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. Both matches today ended 9-0 in favor of the Devils.
Moscowitz joined Ly as the only two players in program history to reach the 100 win plateau. Senior
Steven Serras reached a milestone last week, hitting 50 career victories.
"Max embodies what every coach should have in their captain," said head coach
Tom Battaglia. "He's a leader both on and off the court. He's the kind of person that would give you the shirt off his back or lend you a racket when you break a string. We couldn't be more proud of him. It's a great day in program history having Max and Chri get their 100th wins on back-to-back days."
Against Eastern, Moscowitz, Serras and freshman
Tyler Schacher each picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories. Sophomore
Kevin Weller had toughest test at No. 2 singles, as the he fought hard to win 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Ly earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles while sophomore
Chris Fiorenza registered a 6-1, 6-0 win to complete the shutout at singles.
Moscowitz teamed with Weller for an 8-3 triumph at No. 1 doubles, before No. 2 and No. 3 doubles earned identical 8-2 wins. Serras and sophomore
Brendon Urbano notched final doubles victory, with Urbano improving to 2-0 on the season.
In the match against Penn State Brandywine, Moscowitz and Weller once again topped their opponents 8-3. With a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles, Ly and Fiorenza picked up an easy 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Weller, Ly and Serras all pitched 8-0 shutouts, while Schacher picked up an 8-1 win. Moscowitz closed out his four win day with an 8-0 victory at No. 1 singles.
FDU is back in action tomorrow, hosting Pratt at 10 a.m.
