MADISON, N.J. (March 25, 2018) - The FDU men's lacrosse team fell to Arcadia 11-8 Sunday afternoon.
With the setback, the Devils are now 2-3 while Arcadia improved to 4-1.
The Knights opened the scoring 2:24 into the contest, but sophomore
John Guido converted a pass from classmate
John Belanger leveling the score at one. The Knights recorded the final four goals of the first quarter, leading 5-1 after the frame.
Junior
Will Charbonneau ended the run, netting a man-up goal from senior
David Stewart. Charbonneau absorbed a hit while still converting the goal. Arcadia tallied one more in the second with 7:09 left, but the Devils defense was tough, holding the Knights goal-less the remainder of the stanza. FDU had a big opportunity to capitalize on two penalties late in the quarter, but were unable to score.
The third quarter was big for the Devils, as they scored three goals in the first eight minutes. Guido began the run, while Stewart and freshman
Drew Bukowiec also tallied goals during the spurt.
Arcadia closed the third period with three straight markers of their, all coming within a 1:11 span. Senior
Will Kenny netted a goal 3:19 into the fourth, but the Knights answered with one of their own 1:16 later.
Belanger and Stewart scored 55 seconds apart, trimming the deficit down to 10-8. The Devils had a pair of shots go wide with two minutes remaining, and Arcadia capped off the scoring with 1:10 left in the game.
Sophomore
Adam Reifer made 16 saves in the setback, while classmate
Mike Gartner forced four turnovers to go along with four ground balls. Stewart and Guido each had two goals, while Bukowiec posted a team-best five ground balls.
FDU will host cross-town rival Drew on Wednesday at Robert T. Shields Field. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
