MADISON, N.J. (February 21, 2018) - The FDU women's basketball team is gearing up for a run at a sixth consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship.
TOURNAMENT INFO
The Devils, who earned the No. 1 seed, will host No. 4 seed Misericordia tonight while No. 2 DeSales welcomes No. 3 King's. The two winners will meet at the site of the higher seed Saturday at a time to be announced.
SEASON SERIES
FDU won both matchups against the Cougars this year, winning 66-63 in Dallas, Pa. In the return matchup, the Devils earned an 84-61 win in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
HOME COOKIN'
Over the last two seasons, FDU boasts a 20-2 record inside the friendly confines of the Ferguson Recreation Center.
DOWNTOWN 'DRE
Sophomore
Kendrea Williams leads the MAC Freedom in scoring average (21.7 points per game) and three pointers made (94). In a non-conference win over Hartwick, Williams scored a school-record 45 points while setting the school-mark of nine three-pointers.
TRANSFER SUCCESS
The Devils brought in a pair of transfers and both have paid dividends for the team this season. Sophomore
Gabrielle Harris is second on the club with 20.4 points per game, while junior
Bria Smith is averaging 12.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Both have been tabbed MAC Freedom
Player of the Week this season.
WELCOME BACK
Since returning from injury, sophomore
Taiah Thornton has helped FDU to a 7-1 record. She is averaging 11.9 points in the eight games, and has hit nearly 50% of her attempts from behind the arc.
MISERICORDIA REPORT
The Cougars are 16-9 overall, and 9-5 within the MAC Freedom. Three players average over 10.0 points per game, and are led by 11.0 from Japriya Carroll.
