DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (October 9, 2018) - The FDU-Florham men's soccer team earned their first Middle Atlantic Conference victory, defeating Delaware Valley 2-1, Tuesday afternoon.
The Devils are 4-9, 1-2-0 in the MAC Freedom, while Delaware Valley falls to 3-9, 0-3 in the conference
Sophomore
Ricky La Stella and
Brandon McGregor each netted a goal for the Devils from an assist by sophomore
Justin Estremera. Freshman
Tiernan Grey made a save in a winning effort.
The Devils got on the board quickly scoring on their first shot of the evening to go ahead 1-0. La Stella's goal was netted in the sixth minute when he received the pass from Estremera inside the box and beat the keeper far post. The Devils defense only allowed the Aggies to take two shots in the first half, meanwhile the FDU-Florham rattled off five shots in the half.
Delaware Valley was able to find some offense in the 51
st minute when junior Billy Frazier Jr. beat Grey to tie the game at one. Both teams continued to trade shots in the second half until in the 74
th minute, when McGregor found himself on a breakaway due to Estremera's lead pass. McGregor took advantage of the opportunity and netted his fifth goal of the season, the second most for the Devils.
The Devils will host to DeSales University, Saturday, October 13 at 5 p. m. for their fourth conference game of the season.
