MONTCLAIR, N.J. (October 3, 2018) - The FDU-Florham men's soccer team was downed by in-state rival Montclair State 7-1 Wednesday evening.
The Devils fall to 3-8, while Montclair improves to 11-1-1.
The Red Hawks wasted little time, opening up a 4-0 lead 12:29 into the game. FDU was aided by the goal-post, as a pair of Montclair State shots pinged off of the crossbar. The Devils got on the board in the 31st minute. Sophomore
Caleb Aryiku threaded a perfect pass to classmate
Justin Estremera, who got behind the Red Hawk defense and beat the goalkeeper far post.
Estremera nearly pulled the Devils within two early in the second half, but his shot was saved. Five minutes later, sophomore
Ricky La Stella ripped a shot that was also snared by the MSU keeper. The Red Hawks tacked on three goals in the second half to establish the final goal margin.
Freshman
Tiernan Grey made five saves, while Estremera had both of his shots on target.
