The FDU-Florham men's soccer team lost 3-1, to Manhattanville College Wednesday afternoon.
The Devils are 5-10, 2-3 in the MAC Freedom, while Manhattanville to 10-4, 3-2 in the MAC Freedom play.
Freshman Billy Farnan scored his first collegiate goal and freshman Tiernan Grey made eight saves in goal for the Devils.
The Devils relied on Grey heavily in the first half, a half in which the Devils were outshot 13-6. Grey made five saves in goal for the Devils including a couple diving saves early in the half. The Devils offense had a couple of shots in the half that almost found the back of the net including a shot from sophomore Justin Estremera in the 17th minute that got passed the Valiants keeper but struck the crossbar.
In the 60th minute the Devils had another opportunity to break the scoreless tie but freshman Salvatore Vassallo's shot hit the crossbar and bounced out. The Valiants then collected the rebound and went the distance and scored the first goal of the evening. In the 64th minute, Manhattanville added an insurance goal to make the score 2-0. In the 84th minute, Manhattanville scored another goal on a shot that went over the head of the Devils' keeper. The Devils ruined the Manhattanville's shutout in the 87th minute when Farnan found the back of the net, after collecting the loose ball in a scrum in front of the net.
The Devils will travel to Dallas, Pennsylvania to play Misericordia University, Saturday October 20 at 1 p. m.
