MADISON, N.J. – With 4:29 left in the contest, FDU-Florham women's basketball sophomore
Kendrea Williams sunk a three-pointer to mark her milestone 1000
th career point in just 48 collegiate games played as the Devils defeated conference rival Misericordia, 84-61, Saturday afternoon.
Williams needed 21 points to earn the milestone and without missing a beat, she sunk six three's and three free throws to become the second Devil in the program's history to reach 1000 points in her second season.
On her first three-pointer of the game, Williams broke her own single-season program record in three-pointers, finishing the triumph at 81 three-pointers made so far this season.
"I'm really proud of the work that young lady has put in to achieve this accomplishment," head coach
Marc Mitchell said.
Sophomore guard
Taiah Thornton scored a dominating 19 points and had six steals in just her second game back from injury. Junior
Bria Smith also added 19 points for the team, scoring 17 in the first half alone.
The Devils took advantage of their opponent's mistakes, capitalizing on 31 points off turnovers.
Senior
Michaela Piserchia was a driving force for the Devils, grabbing five steals and making three blocks while freshman
Aleah Bass earned her first collegiate points off a good layup.
Junior
Raven Dowling continued to be a playmaker, notching six assists, four steals and eight points in the victory.
Up next, the Devils (13-6, 6-2 MAC Freedom) travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to take on conference foe Wilkes University on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
