WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Sophomore
Kendrea Williams recorded 37 points as the FDU-Florham women's basketball team commanded their way to a 104-63 win over Middle Atlantic Conference foe Wilkes University Wednesday evening.
The Devils are now 14-6 on the season and 7-2 in MAC Freedom as the Colonels drop to 4-16 and 0-9 in the conference.
It took Williams just 52 seconds to sink a three-pointer as the Devils went on a 10-0 run to start the contest.
The Colonels used the second half to make up some ground, but the visitors held a 15-point lead at half time.
FDU halted any chance of Wilkes coming back with a 6-0 run to open up the second stanza, outscoring the Colonels by 26 points in the second half.
Williams shot 66 percent from the field, notching 37 points with six three-pointers while going 7-7 from the charity stripe.
Junior center
Bria Smith put up 19 points and three assists for the Devils as sophomore
Gabrielle Harris collected 16 points and four steals.
Senior
Michaela Piserchia and sophomore
Cayla Staggers made a difference for the Devils, grabbing three offensive rebounds each and combining for a total of 17 points.
Sophomore guard
Taiah Thornton led the Devils in assists with five and also made three steals.
FDU punished the Colonels for their mistakes, scoring an astounding 30 points off turnovers and capitalized on 31 second chance points while outrebounding Wilkes, 62-43.
Up next, the Devils return home to face DeSales University in conference match on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
