CENTER VALLEY, PA. (January 13, 2018) - Sophomore
Kendrea Williams tallied 31 points but the FDU women's basketball team fell to DeSales 82-74 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action Saturday.
The loss dropped FDU to 10-5 overall, and 3-1 in the MAC Freedom while DeSales improved to 8-7 and also is 3-1 in conference.
The Bulldogs led wire-to-wire in the game, including scoring the first 11 points of the game. The Devils countered the opening run with an 8-1 spurt of their own, capped off with a trey from Williams. FDU closed to within five points near the end of the second quarter, but DeSales used back-to-back layups to construct a 10-point lead entering the half.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Harris nailed a three to begin the third stanza, but the Bulldogs used a 14-2 rally to extend their lead to 19. The Devils, who had just field goal over the first 6:44 of the frame, got the lead down to nine courtesy of a 13-2 run, highlighted by five straight from Williams. That would be as close as FDU would get until Williams hit a three at the buzzer to establish the eight point margin.
Harris tallied 15 points and seven rebounds, while senior
Michaela Piserchia and junior
Kayla Croswell also hauled in seven boards. Junior
Bria Smith notched another double-double, pulling in 12 boards while scoring 10 points.
FDU returns home on Wednesday, hosting Eastern at 8 p.m. in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
