CENTER VALLEY, PA. (January 13, 2018) - The FDU men's basketball team fell to DeSales 83-65 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play Saturday.

Two layups by freshman Shawn Smith and one by junior Darren Davy capped off an 8-2 Devils run, giving the visitors an early 12-7 lead. The Bulldogs would pull away over the next 12 minutes, going on a 26-9 run. Smith broke a four minute scoring drought with a jumper, but DeSales scored the final six to head into break up 16.

Smith nailed a three coming out of half-time, but the hosts countered with 10 of the next 14 to keep the Devils at bay. Junior Edwin Lopez and Davy scored to cut the lead down to 15 with 13:03 left, but DeSales broke the game open with 16 consecutive points. Senior Ryan Rigby connected on three attempts from behind the arc over the final four minutes to help bring the gap under 20 late in the game.

Rigby finished with 11 points, while Smith had a team best 15 points, six assists and five steals. Lopez and Davy combined for 17 points in the setback.

The Devils welcome Eastern to campus for a 6 p.m. contest Wednesday evening inside the Ferguson Recreation Center.
