MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham men's soccer team dropped a 9-2 decision to Drew University at Robert T. Shields Field on Wednesday night.
The Devils drop to 0-3 on the season as the Rangers improve to 3-0.
It only took Drew's Nate Race 31 seconds to score on the first shot of the game. Two minutes later senior goalie
JT Bretschneider made a solid save on Andy Imoh's attempt, but Imoh was able to grab the rebound to take an early 2-0 lead just 2:12 into the contest.
FDU-Florham's defense was able to effectively use the offsides trap against Drew, catching them off three consecutive times. However, Drew's Aidan Cserhat was able to break through, scoring three consecutive goals within just four minutes of each other to put the Devils in a 5-0 hole.
The Rangers scored once more in the first before FDU-Florham's
Dimitris Stoupas scored his first collegiate goal with a header into the net off a corner kick from senior
Brian Chiarello to leave the half, 6-1.
In the second half, Drew scored three more times until the Devils were able to notch the final goal of the game on a penalty kick by junior
Anthony Pares in the 85th minute.
The Rangers outshot the Devils, 32-15, and enjoyed a 7-3 corner kick advantage.
In net, Bretscneider and sophomore
Liam Ryan combined for eight saves.
Up next, the Devils return to Robert T. Shields Field to take on Farmingdale State College on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
