Football Falters at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. (September 23, 2017) - The FDU football team dropped a 24-14 decision to Middle Atlantic Conference foe Lebanon Valley Saturday.

The Devils fall to 1-3, 0-3 in the MAC while LVC is 2-2, 2-1 in conference. FDU is home next Friday night, taking on No. 9 Delaware Valley at 7 p.m.

Neither team was able to break through early, though Lebanon Valley intercepted a pass on the fourth play of scrimmage. On the LVC second possession, the Dutchmen scored on a nine-play drive, capped off with a seven yard touchdown run. FDU finally broke though after a long 15-play, 74 yard drive midway through the second quarter. Junior Jagger Green kept the ball himself and plunged through for a four yard score, bringing the score to 7-6. That would be the score heading into the halftime break.

Paxson Hayes opened the second half with his second TD of the afternoon, giving the hosts an eight point lead. The Devils answered quickly, as sophomore Steve Iannone had a 30 yard touchdown run, his second score in as many games. Green hit sophomore Mike Panzarino for the two-point try, and the game was tied at 14.

The Devils defense limited LVC to a field goal on the next trip down the field, but surrendered a TD in the fourth quarter to make the score 24-14. The Devils had a final drive down the field, but a fourth and 20 pass was picked off at the Dutchmen five yard line. The hosts ran out the clock controlling the ball for the final 7:59 of the contest.

Green was 21-of-38 for 217 yards while Iannone picked up 40 yards on ground. Khrystan Camilo led the way with 95 yards on five catches. Defensively, freshman Kyle Connelly had 13 tackles, while sophomore Isaiah Turner had 12.
