HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 20, 2017) - Senior
JT Bretschneider made 13 saves, but the FDU men's soccer team fell 3-0 to Centenary on Wednesday.
The Cyclones are now 1-4-1 on the season, while FDU dropped to 0-7.
The Devils were peppered with shots in the opening half, as Centenary held a n 11-2 edge over the first 45. The senior Bretschneider made six stops in the opening stanza to keep the score deadlocked at 0-0. FDU's best chance came in the 41st, but a header by
Zavier Paniagua went wide.
The Cyclones struck first in the 50th minute, as Richy Castro tapped a pass from Justin White in for his first tally of the season.
Kenneth Campen had an attempt in the 56th minute stopped by the Centenary goalie. The Devils had corner kicks in the 63rd and 64th minute, but were unable to get a shot off.
White doubled the hosts lead. as he took a one-touch pass in to go one-on-one with Bretschneider and beat him for the goal. After FDU was reduced to 10 men due to a straight red card, Centenary added an insurance goal with 1:07 remaining for the 3-0 final.
Paniagua and
Justin Barbosa each had two shots in the setback.
FDU is back in action on Saturday, heading to Arcadia for a 12 p.m. showdown.
