Men's Soccer Edged by Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team dropped a close, 2-1, decision to Marywood University in a non-conference match up on Saturday afternoon in Scranton, Pa.

The Devils are now 0-6 as the Pacers improve to 2-3.

Freshman Ricky La Stella came out hard from the get-go hammering three shots at Marywood's net until he finally broke through on his fourth shot giving the Devils a 1-0. La Stella converted on a through ball from junior midfielder John Timmes just 6:12 into the game.

FDU-Florham continued to put on the pressure as junior midfielder Jake Karlsberg and freshman midfielder Brandon McGregor poured on shots.

The tides changed however when Marywood's Zac Lloyd tallied a tying point off a cross from Carlos Perez in the 18th minute.

The Pacers used the momentum to notch the game-winning point less than two minutes later as Dylan McMahon knocked in a rebound on a feed from Cody Gangaware.

Both squads played a scoreless half as Marywood slightly outshot the Devils, 17-15.

In goal, JT Bretschneider made three saves as the Pacers' Michael Mejia stopped six to earn the win.

Up next the Devils travel to Hackettstown, N.J. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. to on Centenary University.
