Freshmen Power Men's Lacrosse Past Bard

MADISON, N.J. (March 8, 2017) – The freshman trio of John Guido, Alec Orazietti and John Belanger combined for eight goals and four assists as the FDU men's lacrosse team stormed past Bard 12-7 Wednesday.

FDU moves to 3-1 with win while Bard slid to 3-1.

Orazietti got the Devils on the board just 3:40 into the game, and Guido scored three minutes later, building a quick 2-0 lead. After Bard got one back, the ensuing faceoff was won by the Raptors, but was passed directly to Orazietti, who took two steps and fired one into the net. Belanger capped off first period scoring as off a save by sophomore Tom Tornetto, classmate Michael Warg found Belanger off a clear and buried the shot attempt.

The Devils started the second with a man-advantage, and took advantage of the situation as David Stewart found Orazietti for the hat-trick goal. Under two minutes later Guido scored off a feed from senior Dalton Rimmer. Bard scored two straight, but senior Dan Decker forced a turnover, scooped up the ground ball and scored to give FDU the 7-3 halftime lead.

After trading the first two tallies of the second half, Belanger and Stewart netted goals, with Rimmer claiming assists on both of them. Freshman Pat Stewart got into the goal action, recording his fourth marker of the season to make the score 12-6. Bard would get one more before the game ended, but the Devils were able to hold the guests without a shot the rest of the way.

???????Orazietti finished with four goals and two helpers, while Belanger and Rimmer each had four points. Decker had a game-high 11 ground balls, as the Devils held a 45-27 edge in ground balls for the contest. Junior Will Kenny won 8-of-11 faceoffs, while Rimmer was 4-of-8.
