GLENSIDE, PA. (March 26, 2017) - Freshman
Alec Orazietti scored three times, but the FDU men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-9 decision to Arcadia Sunday.
FDU dropped to 4-4 on the season, as Arcadia improved to 2-5.
The Knights opened with two goals in the 3:16 of the game, but neither side was able to score until the 4:12 left in the first quarter. Freshman
Pat Stewart scored at the 4:12 mark, and just 35 seconds later,
Dalton Rimmer added a goal to even score.
The tie was short-lived, with Arcadia's Nick Ferraro scoring consecutive tallies 15 seconds apart. After a Knights man-up goal ended the first, freshman
John Belanger scored to ignite a four-goal Devils rally. Classmate
John Guido netted one and Orazietti tallied a pair during the run. With four seconds left in the half, Arcadia's Austin Williams scored to send the game tied at the break.begin the
Ferraro netted two straight to begin the third, but Stewart answered at the 8:36 mark, setting the stage for the teams to tally three goals over the ensuing 1:12. Williams scored again to conclude the third, but Orazeitti completed the hat trick with 7:28 left in the fourth cutting the deficit to one. The Knights tallied an insurance goal and held FDU with a goal over the final 7:28 to win by two.
Tom Tornetto made 14 saves in the setback, while
Dan Decker caused five turnovers.
FDU will head down Madison Ave. on Wednesday to take on Drew at 7 p.m.
