Men's Lacrosse Falls to Drew, 12-6

MADISON, N.J. (March 29, 2017) – The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's lacrosse team dropped a 12-6 decision to local rival Drew University on the road at Ranger Stadium.

FDU-Florham fell to 4-5 as Drew improved to 4-4.

While the Devils managed to outshoot the Rangers, 47-32, but only 27 shots were on net and Drew's Teddy Sweeney was force to be reckoned with, making 12 stops.

Despite senior midfielder Dalton Rimmer notching the game's first point, the Rangers scored three unanswered goals to take an early 3-1 lead in the first quarter.

The second quarter highlighted a hard-fought battle between both squads in a mostly scoreless 15 minutes of play. While Drew struck first with a goal, freshman attacker John Guido answered back with a one of his own to close the scoring gap at 4-2 at the half.

FDU-Florham struggled defensively to hold off the Rangers in the third quarter as Drew went on a 5-0 run that the Devils were never able to recover from.

With 1:47 remaining in the third quarter, freshman attacker Alec Orazietti fired in his 26th goal of the season.

The Devils stepped up their intensity level in the fourth quarter and enjoyed three goals, one from Rimmer and two at the stick of freshman attacker John Belanger. Belanger converted on a man-up opportunity off a feed from junior midfielder David Stewart to finish of FDU-Florham's offensive campaign.

Senior defender Michael Adragna was able to cause three turnovers and pick up three ground balls as senior midfielder Dan Decker grabbed four ground balls.

In net sophomore goalie Tom Tornetto made six saves while freshman Adam Reifer stopped two.

Up next, the Devils travel to Center Valley, Pa. to take on DeSales University on Tuesday, April 4 at 7 p.m.
