Box Score MADISON, N.J. -- A strong performance behind freshman
Kendrea Williams led the Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball clinched a spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs with a 62-49 victory over Eastern University on Wednesday in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
The Devils are now 19-3 as the Eagles dropped to 14-8 on the season.
Williams went 9-for-15 and notched a game-high 25 points while senior
Alyssa McDonough grabbed 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.
Both squads were evenly matched at 14 points each in the first quarter. It was sophomore
Kayla Croswell who converted on a jumper to take the lead, 16-14. Crosswell was a spark on the court all night, grabbing four steals, seven points and dominating with 13 rebounds.
Eastern grabbed back a 22-20 lead with 5:12 left in the half but a good layup from McDonough followed by a steal from junior
Michaela Piserchia and good jumper from Williams put the Devils up for the remainder of the night.
FDU-Florham outplayed the Eagles for the rest of the second half, outshooting 43.33 percent to Eastern's 30.77 percent.
The Devils took advantage of points off turnovers, capitalizing on 22 to the Eagles' four.
Eastern was led by Emily Lavin who notched a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the night.
Up next, the Devils travel to Doylestown, Pa. to take on Delaware Valley University in a conference matchup on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.
