MADISON, N.J. (December 7, 2017) - The FDU men's basketball team was topped by Drew University 90-69 Thursday evening.
A layup by freshman
Ahmad St. Fleur put FDU ahead by 4:22 into the game, but Drew countered with a 9-0 run. After the Devils scored the next five, the host Rangers took over.Â
A 19-5 spurt put the Rangers up by 20, and a trey with 1:58 left gave them their biggest edge of the first half, as the lead swelled to 26. Despite shooting 37% from the field, the Rangers knocked down 63% of their shots. The biggest edge was behind the arc, as Drew converted 10-of-16 in the first 20 minutes.
The Devils clawed back to start the second stanza, forcing turnovers on the Rangers first four possessions of the period. FDU scored 13 of the 14 points of the half, holding Drew without a field goal over the first 5:26 of the second half.
Unfortunately, that would be as close as FDU would get, as Drew kept the lead in the mid-teens for a majority of the second half. The defense forced 20 turnovers in the second half, including four steals from junior
Anthony Mitchell.
Sophomore
Rajaan Dixon and St. Fleur each had 14 points, with Dixon going 4-of-8 from behind the arc. Junior
Darren Davy hauled in eight boards while St. Fleur added six assists.
FDU is back in action on Saturday, hosting Centenary at 1 p.m.
