NEW LONDON, CONN. – The FDU-Florham women's basketball dropped an 84-59 decision to Connecticut College in non-conference action on Tuesday night.
Devils fall to 2-2 on the season as the Camels improve to 2-1 overall.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Harris led FDU with 24 points as classmate
Kendrea Williams put up 10, but it wasn't enough to catch the Camels who took off with a 21-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Camels grabbed an early 6-0 lead out of the gate but the Devils began to adjust and tied the score at 8-8 off a Harris layup with 4:47 remaining in the first quarter. Still, that was the last time the Camels lead would be threatened.
Connecticut College's Mairead Hynes went 11-for-15, recording 29 points and seven rebounds in the night while Ashley Howe picked up 14 points in reserve to hold off the Devils. The Camels' depth made the difference in the contest as they collected 37 points off the bench, compared to FDU's 12.
The Devils began to climb back in the second quarter as junior
Raven Dowling and Williams hit back-to-back three's for their team to close the gap at 32-25. It wasn't enough as Connecticut College regained the momentum and went on an eight-point run to grab a 42-31 lead at the half that FDU struggled to cut for the remainder of the matchup.
Up next, FDU-Florham will return home to take on Moravian College on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
