WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (October 7, 2017) - Sophomores
Jagger Green and
Mike Panzarino set school-records, but the FDU football team fell to Lycoming 48-21 Saturday afternoon.
Green set new records in completions and attempts, going 52-of-67, while Panzarino hauled in a school-best 23 passes.
The Devils drop to 1-5, 0-5 in the MAC, while Lycoming is 3-3, 3-2 in conference.
FDU started with the ball and went three and out on their first two possessions, while Lycoming couldn't convert on their first drive. The Warriors would score on the ensuing possession, and after another three and out, needed one play to make the score 14-0 midway through the first quarter.
The Warriors special teams came up with a blocked punt, and three plays later added to their lead with a Sam Dressler rushing score. The Devils strung together a 12 play, 75 scoring drive, as Green found Panzarino for an eight yard touchdown.
Lycoming was limited to a field goal on the next possession, and the Devils cut the lead down to 10, as Green hooked up with senior Malik Pressley for a 22 yard score. The score was aided by a 15 yard scamper by Green on 3rd and 13. The touchdown for Pressley tied him with Vic Moncato for the most touchdown catches in school history.
After the Warriors kicked a field goal at the halftime whistle, the hosts broke the game open with touchdowns 1:49 apart. After a rushing score, the Warriors recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and scored four plays later, building a 27 point edge.
Lycoming scored their final touchdown of the game opening the fourth quarter, but Green converted a nine yard pass to sophomore Khrystan Camilo with 21 seconds left, making the score the 48-21 final.
Green threw for 350 yards, while Panzarino had 145 yards receiving. Pressley had 12 grabs for 114 yards, while freshman
Alnazir Blackman had 87 yards of total offense.
The Devils have a bye next week, and will face Wilkes for Homecoming on October 21.
