Pressley Sets Touchdown Mark in 49-31 Win Over Wilkes

MADISON, N.J. (October 21, 2017) - Senior Malik Pressley became the all-time leader in touchdown receptions as the FDU football team rolled to a 49-31 win over Wilkes Saturday.

The win pushed the Devils to 2-6, 1-6 in conference action. The Colonels fell to 0-7, 0-6 in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Pressley's second quarter touchdown was the 31st of his career, passing Vic Moncato's previous record of 30. Earlier this season, he became the programs all-time leader in receptions and is closing in on the reception yards record.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Devils needed just one play in the second quarter to take the lead. Sophomore Jagger Green threw behind the line to junior Mike Panzarino, who fired a perfect strike to sophomore Steve Iannone on the sideline. Iannone did the rest, scampering for a 72 yard touchdown.

The Colonels tied the game with a one-yard plunge, but the Devils would score the next 21 points in the quarter. On the third play from scrimmage after the tying score, Green hit Panzarino for a 63 yard score, putting the Devils on top for good.

After Wilkes went three and out, Green completed two straight throws to Pressley, the second going for 23 yards and the school-record 31st touchdown of his career. Senior Ryan Wilson notched his first career interception on a tipped ball during the ensuing drive, and Panzarino hauled in his second score of the quarter.

Khrystan Camilo opened the second half with a big return, and the Devils needed just four plays to score again. For the second time on the day, Green connected with Pressley, this time for a nine yard score.

Wilkes pinned the Devils at their own one yard line on the next possession after a punt. Green and Panzarino hooked up twice, the second down the line for a 91 yard score, putting the Devils on top 42-7.

Wilkes scored the next 10 points, before Green and Pressley scored a third time. After Wilkes called a timeout, Green hit Pressley in the back corner for a 15 yard touchdown catch. Wilkes scored two late touchdowns to establish the final margin, giving FDU a 49-31 win.

Green was 33-of-47 for 436 yards and a school-record tying six touchdown passes. Panzarino had 12 catches for 265 and three scores, while Pressley hauled in nine balls for 108 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, sophomore Isaiah Turner had 18 tackles and two sacks, while Wilson had 14 tackles and an interception.

The Devils hit the road next week for a 1 p.m. game against King's on Saturday.
