MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to King's College (Pa.) in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom match at the Florham campus grass fields.
Prio to the start of the contest, the Devils celebrated their six seniors of
JT Bretschneider,
Shawn Jennings,
Brian Chiarello,
Rick Pena,
Adam Gill and
Justin Barbosa on Senior Day.
The Devils fall to 3-12-1 and 3-3-1 in the conference as the Monarchs moved to 11-6-1 on the season and 4-2-0 in the MAC Freedom.
FDU-Florham struggled to generate an offense as King's outshot the hosts, 18-7 and found a 3-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Brendan Raab was the first to score for the King's in the 30th minute, notching a goal off a rebound and finding the back of the net to put things at 1-0 at half time.
The Devils came out strong in the first half and freshman midfielder
Brandon McGregor fired in a half-volley that hit the post but ultimately rolled to the back of the net to even the score.
FDUu-Florham was halted from there, however, as Raab struck again for King's 61st minute and Steven Valencia scored the third about two minutes later.Â
Daniel Lorandini completed the scoring campaign for the Monarchs with a goal in the 82nd minute to earn the 4-1 triumph.
In goal, sophomore
Liam Ryan and Bretschneider split time, combining for three saves each.
The Devils will now wait to hear about post-season opportunities.Â
