DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (October 18, 2017) - The FDU field hockey team was topped by Delaware Valley 1-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action Wednesday.
The Devils fall to 11-5, 4-1 in conference, while the Aggies move to 6-9, 1-4 in the MAC Freedom.
Neither side was able to put a shot on goal until the 14th minute, as a shot by junior
Kelly O'Neill was stopped by the Aggies Rosie Bishop. In a four minute span midway through the first half, the Aggies were awarded four penalty corners but were unable to find a goal.
Junior
Samantha Rubin made three key saves late in the first half to keep the score 0-0, but Bishop was there to stop senior
Marissa Kowalskie with no time left. The Devils had a penalty corner at the end of the period, but Bishop was there to send the game to the half even. The host Aggies held a mere 9-8 edge in shots, while Bishop and Rubin each had four stops.
The Aggies broke through with 22:48 left, as Carlie Baldus passed to Kara Imes, who scored on a shot to low left corner. The Devils had a glorious opportunity to tie the game three minutes later, but senior
Gabby Allen was robbed by a defender on a defensive save. FDU continued to press, but despite taking 13 second half shots could not find an equalizer.
Rubin made four saves for FDU, while her counterpart Bishop made nine. Junior
