WILKES BARRE, Pa. (October 15, 2017) - The FDU women's tennis team had two individuals and two doubles pairings finish as runner-up at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Tournament Sunday.
The event closed out the Devils fall season, with resuming in February.
No. 1 Singles - Freshman
Nicole DelRosso was knocked off by No. 2 seeded Emily Fernandez in the semifinals 6-1, 6-2 Sunday. DelRosso won a pair of matches Saturday to advance to the semifinal round.
No. 4 Singles - After knocking off Elizabeth Drda of Lebanon Valley 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals, junior
Allyson Wolf fell in the MAC Finals. Wolf was topped by Wilkes' Laura Zielinski 6-1, 6-3.
No. 6 Singles - Sophomore
Mia Capozzoli, who was seeded No. 2, topped DeSales Amanda Becker 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals to qualify for the finals. Capozzoli was defeated by Dagney Markle of Wilkes 6-1, 6-0 in the final round.
No. 2 Doubles - Sophomore
Christine Kenny and DelRosso had a tough matchup against the No. 3 seed, but previaled 9-7 to reach the finals. They were topped in the final round 8-3 by Wilkes, who were ranked No. 1.
No. 3 Doubles - Freshman
Kira Bradley and Serena Grande also advanced to the final round as the No. 3 seed, but were knocked off by the No. 1 seed, also from Wilkes.
No. 4 Doubles - Freshman
Brooke Dorsey and Capozzoli fell in a tiebreaker in the semifinals, 9-8 (7-5).
