WILKES, Pa. (October 14, 2017) - The FDU women's tennis team sent three individuals and three doubles teams to the Semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Tournament Saturday.
No. 1 Singles - Freshman
Nicole DelRosso knocked No. 3 seeded Emma Paugh of Eastern 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 before blanking Delaware Valley's Natalie Hoffman 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semis Sunday. DelRosso will face No. 2 seeded Emily Fernandez.
No. 2 Singles - Freshman
Kira Bradley won her first match before getting topped in the quarterfinals by Carly Young of Misericordia.
No. 3 Singles - Facing the No. 3 seed, sophomore
Christine Kenny was eliminated in the first round 6-3, 6-4.
No. 4 Singles - After receiving a bye into the quarterfinals as the No. 2 seed, junior
Allyson Wolf topped King's Natalie Coffee 6-1, 6-0. Wolf will face the No. 3 seed Elizabeth Drda of Lebanon Valley in the semifinal round tomorrow.
No. 5 Singles - Senior Serina Grande received a bye as the No.3 seed, but was knocked off by Samantha Kropa of Misericordia 7-5, 6-3.
No. 6 Singles - Sophomore
Mia Capozzoli earned the No. 2 seed, advancing to the quarterfinals via a first round bye. She dispatched Isabella Fontanella 6-0, 6-1 to qualify for the semifinals tomorrow, taking on No. 3 seeded Amanda Becker of DeSales.
No. 7 Singles -
Pamela Russo was topped in the first round, falling to Gabby Serratore of DeSales 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 10-8.
No. 1 Doubles - The team of Wolf and Russo were topped in the first round by Lycoming's Devinity Apollon and Kaitlin Hallabuk.
No. 2 Doubles - Kenny and DelRosso earned a bye as No. 2 seed and topped Eastern's Lauren Good and Olivia Weaver 8-4 to advance to the semifinal round tomorrow.
No. 3 Doubles - As the No. 3 seed, Grande and and Bradley also earned a bye and won their quarterfinal match. They topped Lycoming's Kim Parrocini and Brittany Lenze. They will take on Lebanon Valley's No. 3 team tomorrow.
No. 4 Doubles - Freshman
Brooke Dorsey and Capozzoli earned a bye, and topped Misericordia's Courtney Portaro and Kayla Rembish 8-1 to advance to the semifinals.
