DALLAS, Pa. (January 28, 2017) - Despite a game-high 25 points from senior
Donte Ali, the FDU men's basketball team fell to Misericordia 101-75 Saturday.
Misericordia moves to 14-5 overall and 5-3 in the MAC Freedom while FDU drops to 6-13, 3-5 in conference.
The Devils had an early 7-5 edge in the game, but a mid-first half 22-5 spurt by the hosts put FDU back in a hole they were unable to dig out of. The Cougars led by as many as 23 in the opening stanza, but freshman
Rajaan Dixon and sophomore
Derek Leohner scored to end the half on a 5-0 rally, sending FDU into the break down 18. Ali had 10 points and six rebounds in the first half, but the team shot 37.5 percent from the field, while MU hit 48.6 percent of their shots.
Ali sunk a free throw with 9:33 left and Dixon canned a trey brining the gap to 14 with 8:33 left, but it would be as close as the Devils could get. The Cougars closed the game out on a 15-6 run, but Leohner managed to score five points in the closing minutes to push his game total to 11 points.
Sophomore
Darren Davy narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Devils will return home on Wednesday, hosting Wilkes at 8 p.m.
