MADISON, N.J. (January 14, 2017) -- Freshman
Rajaan Dixon sunk four three-pointers hot off the bench in a minute and a half time span in the Fairleigh Dickinson University men's basketball 74-67 victory over DeSales University in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom contest.
The Devils improved to 6-9 on the season and 3-1 in the MAC Freedom while the Bulldogs dropped to 11-4 on overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Dixon's dominant campaign came just in time for the Devils who were trailing by seven when he put up his first from the behind the arc. Dixon heated up the court with three more to put FDU-Florham in the lead at 31-28 with five minutes to go in the first.
FDU-Florham left the half with a slight 35-32 lead, outshooting the Bulldogs with a 50.0 shooting percentage compared to their opponent's 41.9 percent.
Dixon finished the night going 4-for-5 with 12 points in just seven minutes on the court. Sophomore guard
Darren Davy was solid all game long, grabbing a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
DeSales gained momentum at the start of the second after a layup gave them a one point lead.
Still, it was sophomore guard
Anthony Mitchell who answered back with the go-ahead layup that put the Devils in a lead they held for the remainder of the game.
Senior
Donte Ali played a major role in the Devils' success going 7-for-9 with 16 points, four blocks, four steals and two assists. Meanwhile junior
Steve Herdman notched 16 points of his own, including three from behind the arc, and contributed three assists in the effort.
The Devils continued to their strong push in the second half to hold off DeSales and earn the victory.
