Women's Tennis Falls to Cross-Street Rival Rangers

MADISON, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 setback to cross-street rival Drew University at the Drew Tennis Complex on Wednesday evening.

The Devils (4-10) were swept in doubles by the Rangers (8-8) and were unable to recover despite a solid showing in singles' play.

After dropping all three doubles' flights, the Devils started strong in singles as Remy Astorino took a three-set battle from Katie Marshall. Astorino won the first set 6-3 but dropped the second by the same score, which forced the decisive third set. The junior responded by winning a 10-6 tiebreaker.

FDU-Florham fell in second and third singles but Raven Dowling earned a two-set win in fourth singles and fellow freshman Fidelle El-Asmar won 6-2, 6-1 in sixth singles.

The Devils conclude regular season play with a crucial home match against MAC Freedom foe King's College this Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. The Devils will need to defeat King's College in order to secure the fourth and final spot in this year's MAC Freedom Tournament.
