DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's tennis team opened up MAC Freedom play with a 6-3 victory over the Delaware Valley University Aggies on Saturday afternoon.
The Devils (4-6, 1-0 MAC Freedom) opened up first doubles with Allyson Wolf and Raven Dowling claiming an 8-0 victory over Melanie Mayhew and Tess Hansler. The Aggies (5-8, 0-1 MAC Freedom) responded by winning second and third doubles.
In first singles, junior Remy Astorino defeated Mayhew 6-2, 6-4 and Wolf followed it up with a second singles 6-1, 6-3 victory.
Alexandra Vaccaro won third singles for the Aggies, but that was the only single's loss for the Devils.
Sophomore Amelia Vetto was victorious in fourth singles 6-1, 6-4. The two freshmen, Dowling and Fidelle El-Asmar, then came out on top in fifth and sixth singles.
The Devils will continue conference play as they head on the road for their next match to face off against Eastern University on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. in St. David's, Pa.
