Women's Tennis Falls to Cougars in Conference Play

MADISON, N.J. – On a gorgeous afternoon at the Florham Campus, the Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham women's tennis team battled Misericordia University but ultimately came up short 6-3 in conference action.

The Devils (4-8, 1-2 MAC Freedom) claimed first doubles but the Cougars (2-2, 1-0 MAC Freedom) responded with wins in the second and third flights, which propelled them to victory.

The talented freshmen duo of Allyson Wolff and Raven Dowling paired up for an 8-6 win in first doubles but Misericordia won the next two flights 8-5 and 8-6, respectively.

After Misericordia's Carly Young won first singles, Wolf cruised in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 in second singles.  

Dowling continued her stellar afternoon by winning fifth singles 6-1, 6-4 but the Cougars proceeded to earn victories in third fourth and sixth singles, which sealed their first conference win of the season.

The Devils continue conference action when they take on the top team in the MAC Freedom, Wilkes University next Saturday, April 23. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
