MADISON, N.J. (November 9, 2016) - The FDU-Florham women's volleyball team swept Arcadia 25-20, 27-25, 25-18 to advance to the Quarterfinals of the ECAC Tournament.
The Devils moved to 17-13 while Arcadia ended its season at 16-15.
With the Knights leading 11-10 in the opening frame, the Devils scored 11 of the 12 markers to pull ahead for good. Arcadia closed to within three however, but a FDU timeout squelched the rally. A Knight attack error handed the set to FDU.
Once again, the second period was just as even and saw each team use multi point runs to pull ahead at various points. A 6-2 spurt brought up set point for the Devils, but Arcadia found a way to stave off three consecutive set points. A kill by
Lauren Harris and an attack error by AU put the Devils in a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The difference in set three was a 7-1 burst by FDU with
Rachel Catena on the service line. Arcadia could get no closer than four, and
Nathalia Padron slammed home a match ending kill sending the Devils into the quarters.
Harris anchored both ends of the court with 14 kills and 12 digs, while
Melissa Gaffney had a career-high 36 assists and 11 digs. Catena led the way with 18 digs.
