ST. DAVIDS, Pa. (November 2, 2016) – The FDU-Florham women's dropped a straight set match to No. 12 Eastern in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom semifinals Wednesday.
The Devils fall to 16-14, while Eastern advances to the Championship game Saturday with the 25-13, 25-8, 25-15 score line. FDU will await an announcement Monday about possible postseason options.
FDU hung tight in the opening set, but a 9-1 run by the Eagles stretched the deficit to nine points. After converting two straight tallies, Eastern closed the frame with six of the final seven markers, capped off with a double block.
The Devils fell behind 17-3 in the second set and were unable to recover. The big difference in the final two sets was attacking, as FDU hit -.069 and .143 while Eastern hit .583 and .515 with only two attack errors.
