MADISON, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham football team grabbed a huge 24-21 win over Lycoming College as freshman kicker
Nick Maciejewski completed a 19-yard field goal in the final seconds to earn their second-straight conference victory on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Robert T. Shields Field.
The victory was the first time FDU-Florham has beat Lycoming since 2005.
The Devils are now 2-3 and 2-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom.
Sophomore wide receiver
Michael Panzarino was phenominal for the Devils, recording 17 receptions for 201 yards and one touchdown while senior wide receiver
Esaun Mobley hauled in seven catches for 73 yards.
Sophomore quarterback
Jagger Green was in command with another great outing, going 29-of-43 for 334 yards and one touchdown.
Defensively, FDU-Florham was led by sophomore defensive back
Liam Casey who had nine tackles, two for loss for a total of 18 yards, one sack for a nine-yard loss, one interception for a 26-yard return and two forced fumbles.
The Devils rushing game was significantly improved by sophomore
Robert Young who gained 109 yards and a touchdown. Freshman
Steve Iannone also netted 61 rushing yards for the Devils.
Despite FDU-Florham grabbing the first touchdown of the contest on a 1-yard rush from freshman
Robert Madison, Lycoming scored 21 straight points to grab a 21-8 lead in the third quarter.
That's when the Devils showed their resiliency once again.
The comeback was sparked by a touchdown from sophomore wide receiver Mike Panzarino who caught a 20-yard throw from
Jagger Green to close the gap , 21-15.
In the fourth quarter, Green connected with Panzarino for 32 yards before a Young touchdown capped off a six play, 76-yard drive to even the score.
With seconds left on the clock, Maciejewski was put in a pressure situation but rose to the occassion with a field goal from the 19 to push the Devils past the Warriors, 24-21, and earn the dramatic come-back triumph.
FDU-Florham hits the road next to take on Albright College in Reading, Pa. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
