NEWARK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Rutgers-Newark in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

The Devils fell to 2-6-3 as the Scarlet Raiders improved to 12-2-0.

Rutgers-Newark grabbed a pair of goals just 29 seconds apart in the first half to take an early 2-0 lead courtesy of Fabio De Sousa and Zachary Gillespie.

FDU-Florham struggled to muster an effective attack, being outshot by the Scarlet Raiders throughout each half.

Senior AJ Carnevale led the effort for FDU-Florham recording four shots with three on goal while senior Andrew Ruane made a solid four-shot effort.

Junior goalie JT Bretschneider made four stops in the loss.

FDU-Florham returns to Madison, N.J. for a conference match up against Wilkes University on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 pm. on the Florham Campus Grass Field.
