Davis takes down 1986 All-Time Career Points Record

A three goal, one assist performance from Kim Davis sets the program's All-Time Career Points record at 117

MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham field hockey program's All-Time Career-Points Record stood at 115 for exactly 30 years.

On Wednesday night, that all changed.

Senior forward Kim Davis (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) broke the long-standing record by setting it at 117 points with a three goal, one assist performance in the Devils' 5-1 win over Keystone College at Robert T. Shields Field.

The Giants grabbed the first goal at 6:54 when Kayla Bain took the ball down the field herself, beat out a Devils defender and scored.

Just 58 seconds, FDU-Florham answered back. Senior defender Erin O'Connell fed a pass to sophomore forward Chrissy Penney who notched the tying goal.

With 12 minutes to go in the first, Davis began her run, scoring the game-winner off a feed from sophomore defender Makayla Pak to put the Devils up, 2-1.

Davis scored her second goal of the night with a top left shelf snipe on a penalty stroke. She finished off her scoring in the 47th minute by netting a goal in front of the cage, on an assist from Pak to surpass Kristin Mesick's 1986 all-time career points record and tie Mesick and Christina Fabian's all-time career goals record of 47.

Freshman midfielder Jessica Pietracatella completed the night with her first collegiate goal on a Davis assist.

In goal, sophomore Samantha Rubin made four saves for FDU-Florham while Keystone College's Megan Novak had a standout game in net with 12 saves in the night.

The Devils (6-5) return to Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom action on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. against Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa.
