MADISON, N.J. (October 28, 2016) – Junior Melissa Gaffney notched a double-double to lead the FDU-Florham women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Staten Island Friday.

The Devils move to 16-13 while CSI fell to 7-16 after the 25-19, 25-8, 25-10 result.

After surrendering seven of the first tallies of the first set, FDU chipped away and used a 7-2 spurt to pull ahead for good. The rally was capped off with a big kill from sophomore Kate Quinlan. The Dolphins climbed back to within four, but the hosts finalized the set with back-to-back points to go up 1-0.

The Devils never trailed in the second or third set, and scored the first 12 points of the final set before CSI got on the board. The visitors failed to hit above .000 in any set, while FDU hit .276 as a unit, including a .444 clip in the middle frame.

Gaffney had 12 digs and 19 assists to go along with a pair of kills, while Quinlan slammed home 10 kills. The sophomore middle had no attack errors and hit a blistering .625 over the three sets. Sophomore Lauren Harris tallied 10 kills and eight digs with freshman Breanna Perone dishing out nine assists.

The Devils will take on No. 13 Eastern in the Middle Athletic Conference Freedom Tournament Wednesday, traveling down for a 7 p.m. start.
